What to Pack for a Morocco Desert Tour

A simple checklist for the Sahara: clothes for hot days and cold nights, sun protection and the small things travellers often forget.
Packing for the desert is easy once you know one thing: the Sahara can be hot during the day and cold at night. Here is what we recommend to our travellers.
Clothes
- Light, loose clothes that cover shoulders and knees: comfortable in the sun and respectful in the villages.
- A warm jacket or fleece for the evening, especially from November to March.
- Comfortable closed shoes for walking in the gorges and on the dunes. Sandals are nice in the camp.
- A scarf or a cotton turban to protect your face from sun and sand. You can also buy one on the way.
Sun and health
- Sunglasses, sun cream and a hat.
- Lip balm and a moisturiser: the desert air is very dry.
- Your personal medicines and a small first-aid kit.
Useful extras
- A headlamp or a small torch for the night in the camp.
- A power bank for your phone and camera.
- A small backpack for the camel ride: you leave the big suitcase in the vehicle.
- Some cash in dirhams for drinks, souvenirs and tips.
What you do not need
You do not need to bring towels or bedding: the camps provide them. And there is no need for special desert equipment — comfortable clothes and a good mood are enough.
