The shortest way to sleep in the desert from Marrakech: kasbahs, the Draa valley and a night in a camp near Zagora.
Short on time? In two days you cross the High Atlas, visit Ait Ben Haddou and follow the palm groves of the Draa valley to the desert of Zagora.
The dunes here are smaller than in Merzouga, but the camel ride, the camp and the night sky make it a real desert experience.
If you only have two days, Zagora is the closest desert with dunes and camels that you can reach from Marrakech. The dunes are smaller than in Merzouga, but the journey through the Draa valley, with its kasbahs and endless palm groves, is one of the most beautiful in the south.
It is a good choice for families and for travellers who prefer fewer hours in the car while still enjoying a real night in the desert.
