Land in Errachidia, spend a night and a full day in the dunes of Merzouga and finish in the medina of Fes.
A one-way trip that uses Errachidia airport to start straight in the desert. After two nights around Merzouga, we drive north across the Middle Atlas to Fes.
Fly into Errachidia, enjoy the desert for two nights and finish in Fes, one of the most fascinating cities of Morocco. It is a smart way to avoid the long drive to the Sahara at the start of your trip.
The middle day is dedicated entirely to Merzouga and its surroundings.

Day1
Errachidia – Merzouga
Pick-up and drive through the Ziz valley. Night in a riad by the dunes.
From Errachidia the road follows the Ziz river south, a green valley of palm trees and old fortified villages called ksour, with a viewpoint over the Source Bleue of Meski. After Erfoud and Rissani, the dunes of Erg Chebbi rise on the horizon and you arrive in Merzouga.
Day2
Merzouga
4x4 tour of the desert, Khamlia and a camel ride to the camp.
Merzouga is the gateway to Erg Chebbi, a sea of orange dunes up to 150 metres high. By 4x4 you visit a nomad family for tea, the village of Khamlia, where Gnawa musicians of sub-Saharan origin play their hypnotic music, the seasonal lake and the black stone desert. In the late afternoon a camel caravan takes you into the dunes for sunset and the night in the camp, with dinner, drums around the fire and a sky full of stars.
Day3
Merzouga – Midelt – Fes
Sunrise, then Midelt, the cedar forest and Ifrane to Fes.
After the sunrise over Erg Chebbi and breakfast, you travel north through the Tafilalet palm groves and the Ziz valley, with a stop at a viewpoint over the gorges. Lunch in Midelt, then the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, Azrou and Ifrane, before arriving in Fes in the evening.
