From the Atlantic beaches of Agadir to the dunes of Merzouga and back, through Taroudant, the kasbahs and the gorges.
Staying on the coast? This trip takes you from Agadir to the heart of the Sahara. We pass the walled town of Taroudant and the Anti-Atlas, follow the road of the kasbahs and arrive in Merzouga for a night in the dunes.
The return goes through the Draa valley and Ouarzazate, so you see a different landscape every day.
Agadir is a beach city, but the true south of Morocco begins just behind it. This tour takes you from the ocean to the great dunes of Merzouga and back, discovering saffron fields, kasbahs, gorges and the desert.
The first and last days are long drives, but they cross landscapes few visitors see, and we make regular stops along the way.

Day by day
Day1
Agadir – Taroudant – Ouarzazate
Pick-up in Agadir, a stop in the walled town of Taroudant and the road across the Anti-Atlas to Ouarzazate.
Leaving the coast, you cross the Souss valley to Taroudant, a market town surrounded by red ramparts. The road then climbs between the High Atlas and the Anti-Atlas to Taliouine, the land of saffron, where you can visit a cooperative, and continues across the plateau to Ouarzazate.
Day2
Ouarzazate – Dades – Todra
The Rose Valley, the Dades valley and an afternoon walk in the Todra gorges.
East of Ouarzazate you follow the road of the thousand kasbahs: the palm grove of Skoura, the Rose Valley of Kalaat M'Gouna and the curving road of the Dades gorges. In the afternoon you continue to Tinghir and walk into the narrow Todra gorges before the night.
Day3
Todra – Merzouga
Through Erfoud to Merzouga. Camel ride at sunset and night in the desert camp.
From the Todra gorges you cross the stony plateau to Tinejdad and the oasis of Erfoud, known for its fossils and dates. After a stop in Rissani, the old caravan capital of the Tafilalet, you arrive in Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Day4
Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Sunrise over the dunes, then Rissani, N'Kob and the Draa valley back to Ouarzazate.
After sunrise you take the southern road west, between the Saghro mountains and the desert: Rissani, Alnif, known for its fossils, and the village of N'Kob with its many kasbahs. You then follow the Draa valley, a ribbon of palm trees, and reach Ouarzazate in the evening.
Day5
Ouarzazate – Agadir
Visit of Ait Ben Haddou in the morning and return to Agadir in the evening.
After breakfast you drive back west across the plateau, through Taliouine and its saffron fields and the argan trees of the Souss valley, with a stop in Taroudant if you wish. You arrive in Agadir in the late afternoon, in time to enjoy the beach.
